Central Carolina Community Foundation Releases 2025 Midlands Nonprofit Survey Results

December 1, 2025

Central Carolina Community Foundation, the Midlands’ trusted partner for community philanthropy, has released the results of its 2025 Midlands Nonprofit Survey. With more than one hundred nonprofits responding, the findings of the study point to a particularly challenging year for local nonprofits navigating shifts in funding, rising demand, and limited capacity.

The survey found that 83% of Midlands nonprofits experienced an increase in demand for services, yet more than half said their ability to meet that demand has not kept pace. More than one-third reported a decline in funding compared to the previous year, highlighting the strain many organizations face as they continue to serve those in need.

Affordable housing, mental health, and food insecurity emerged as the top three community concerns identified by survey respondents. All eleven counties were represented in the survey respondents, and nearly one in three organizations represented human services agencies.

Support Local Nonprofits This Giving Season

As Giving Tuesday and the year-end giving season approaches, Central Carolina Community Foundation encourages Midlands residents to support the nonprofits that strengthen their communities. By giving through MidlandsGives.org, donors can make a direct impact on the causes they care about and help serve neighbors across the region. Donors wishing to make a long-term impact on their local community can establish a charitable giving fund at Central Carolina Community Foundation.

“Local nonprofits are doing critical work every day to meet our community’s most pressing needs,” said Georgia Mjartan, President & CEO of Central Carolina Community Foundation. “They are stretching their budgets to feed and shelter more people, to care for children and the elderly, and to bring art, culture, and joy to all residents of the Midlands. Now is the time to support nonprofits doing this important work here locally. As this survey shows, nonprofits need generous donations now more than ever.”
