We coordinate the philanthropic response to natural disasters and statewide emergencies in South Carolina.
Since its creation in 2015, the One SC Fund has helped South Carolina respond to natural disasters and emergencies, including the Thousand-Year Flood, Hurricanes Matthew, Florence, and Helene, the COVID-19 response, and the 2025 Emergency Food Response.
Central Carolina Community Foundation uses its infrastructure and experience to help One SC Fund respond quickly, collect contributions, and make sure dollars go where they are needed most. We coordinate with the South Carolina Office of Resilience, an agency of the governor’s cabinet.
Through contributions from individuals, foundations, and corporate partners, the Fund has provided more than $14 million in support to local organizations serving communities across South Carolina.
When future disasters or emergencies occur, gifts to the One SC Fund are made available to support the next activation.
One SC Fund: Hurricane Helene Long Term Recovery
Activation is closed to new contributions.
About this Activation
Recovery from Hurricane Helene, which made landfall in South Carolina on September 26, 2024, is still ongoing. While immediate relief efforts helped families weather the storm, thousands of South Carolinians continue to face long-term challenges – rebuilding homes and restoring stability nearly two years later. Central Carolina Community Foundation reopened the One SC Fund: Hurricane Helene for donations during the month of June 2026 to support the long-term recovery needs that continue across South Carolina nearly two years after the storm. The Foundation had recently secured a $300,000 grant from the Center for Disaster Philanthropy and was seeking matching support from donors, corporations, and philanthropic partners. Funds raised in June will support a new round of recovery grants to nonprofit organizations this summer.

Through the South Carolina Grantmakers Network, Central Carolina Community Foundation co-leads the South Carolina Disaster Philanthropic Response Team. This team ensures that grantmakers across the state are coordinated when disaster strikes, getting prepared during “blue sky” times, and learning from data and insights to predict disasters.
