In Good Company Partner Feature: Aflac's Community Impact - More Than Just Corporate Giving

June 4, 2025

Creating meaningful connections with local communities is at the heart of Aflac’s longstanding culture of care. For nine years, Aflac has partnered with Central Carolina Community Foundation, giving grants and supporting Midlands Gives as an In Good Company partner, a signature initiative of the Foundation. Through this collaboration, Aflac has provided resources to grassroots charitable organizations that are tackling pressing local challenges in health, education and community development.

“Through Midlands Gives, we appreciate the important work of many local nonprofits and are pleased that our support can help them grow and thrive. It is inspiring to see Aflac’s contributions in action — from both the company and our employees who volunteer and donate,” said Bob Ruff, senior vice president, Group Voluntary Benefits, at Aflac.

Aflac has awarded more than $328,000 to support 246 nonprofit organizations across the Midlands. These contributions reflect a sustained investment in charitable giving and building long-term relationships with organizations making a measurable difference in their communities.

This hands-on approach to community investment reflects what Aflac calls “The Aflac Way” — a philosophy that transforms traditional corporate giving into community partnerships through not only financial support, but also employee volunteerism focused on children, families, and underserved populations. The real impact emerges in the interactions between Aflac employees and the communities they serve — from mentoring programs and nonprofit board service to consistent volunteerism at local schools, food banks, and community centers.

“At Aflac, we work year-round to connect our employees with ways they can make a difference in our communities. Through Midlands Gives, our employees give back to help their neighbors and lift their communities,” said Amanda Grover, manager, Community Relations, at Aflac in Columbia.

Aflac’s ongoing commitment to advancing local nonprofits’ missions and improving neighborhoods across the Midlands offers a clear example of how companies can create lasting change.
