General Operating Support Grants provide unrestricted, flexible, multi-year funding that helps nonprofit organizations strengthen their operations, build organizational capacity and advance their mission.
We prioritize organizations that:
Serve communities historically underinvested by philanthropy
Are rooted in and trusted by the communities they serve
Demonstrate meaningful impact in addressing community needs
Strengthen their long-term organizational sustainability
Value collaboration and community partnerships
Organizations must:
Have held nonprofit status for at least two years
Have an annual operating budget under $650,000
Employ at least one paid staff member working at least 20 hours per week
Have received a grant from Central Carolina Community Foundation within the past four years
Have a physical location within the Foundation’s 11-county service area
Be registered for Midlands Gives
Organizations may receive up to $30,000, awarded as $10,000 annually for up to three years, contingent upon continued eligibility.
January 1: Applications open
January 31: Applications close
Late March: Round One notifications
April: Interviews by invitation
Mid-April: Award notifications
June: Grant period begins
Applications are reviewed by Foundation staff and a volunteer review committee. Final funding recommendations are approved by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
Organizations receiving funding participate in ongoing communication with Foundation staff and quarterly grantee meetings, submit annual reports, use grant funds for operating and administrative expenses, and spend grant funds annually.
