Fundraising School FAQs

Fundraising School is designed to help you put what you learn into practice. By graduation, participants will have developed a technology plan, case for support, communications plan, 12-month fundraising plan, plan to raise $10,000 and board engagement plan.

Past participants have used the program to develop fundraising plans, improve systems for managing donor information, strengthen communications with current and prospective donors, engage board members in fundraising and create a compelling case for support.

Two people from each organization must participate in all Fundraising School sessions.

Participants may include executive directors, board members, development staff with responsibility for fundraising, communications staff, or staff members with limited development experience who have the potential to take on a greater fundraising role.

Choose two people who can work together to apply what they learn and strengthen fundraising across your organization.

Fundraising School is designed for established nonprofits and is not recommended for organizations in their first one to three years of operation.

The program is intensive and focuses on strengthening fundraising strategies and systems, so organizations will benefit from having an established foundation on which to build.

Fundraising School is a virtual program. It includes six interactive half-day sessions, homework assignments and a graduation session.

Because the sessions build on one another, both participants from your organization are expected to attend all sessions.

If your organization is accepted, Central Carolina Community Foundation provides a grant covering the $3,000 tuition for two participants.

Your organization is responsible for the cost of any additional participants and for purchasing the No More Duct Tape Fundraising book used during the program.

Midlands Gives registration is strongly recommended for Fundraising School participants. The program gives organizations an opportunity to put their fundraising strategies into practice, and Midlands Gives can provide a useful way to apply what you learn.

Founded in 1984, Central Carolina Community Foundation connects and mobilizes people and resources to strengthen our community. We partner with donors to support nonprofits, equip students, advance collaborative solutions, and inspire giving across the Midlands and beyond.
